The Power of Art
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.
~Henry Ward Beecher
Spring Classes are now online!
Look for our full Summer schedule by April 1.
This spring many of our classes will switch to our Cartoon Drawing Curriculum. Students will complete multiple drawings, but will only color one. Using the same step-by-step method we've been using this school year, students will learn how to:
- Create original cartoon characters
- Draw action, movement and sounds
- Draw expressions to convey moods
- Develop a series of drawings that tell a joke
Extended eight-week sessions
We couldn't limit our Cartoon Drawing class to just six weeks, so many of our schools will have an eight-week extended Cartoon Drawing session. We know that paying for eight weeks all at once can be difficult, so we are allowing for two payments to be made. Just enroll online as usual, you will see the option to pay in full or in two payments. If you choose payments, first half of tuition will be deducted from your credit card on the first week of class, and the second half will be deducted on the fourth week of class. You will receive an email notification just like a fully paid enrollment, but it states that an authorization has been made for $1.00.
WOULD YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW MAKE A GREAT YOUNG REMBRANDTS TEACHER?
Young Rembrandts is currently hiring light part-time teachers who are mature, responsible people to join our team of talented teachers. If you, or someone you know, are creative, enthusiastic and interested in enriching the lives of children, we want to hear from you. Curriculum and training provided. Working with a group of children and some college level art preferred. Please email resume to firstname.lastname@example.org
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are classes held at my child's school or at your location?
Our trained and qualified art teacher will come to your child's school once a week and teach the one-hour class.
2. What supplies will my child need?
All supplies are provided.
3. What type of art will my child be doing?
Young Rembrandts is a drawing-based class. Your child will draw and color one lesson each week. Our media is color pencils, markers, and sharpies. No need to wait for the art to dry.
4. How do you teach the lessons?
We are the only after-school art enrichment program that teaches art, using a methodology specifically designed to improve student perception, visualization and organizational skills.
At Young Rembrandts we teach children to draw - the fundamental skill of all visual arts - using a sequential, ordered process. As a result, students show dramatic improvement in their drawing abilities, expand their art vocabulary and art history knowledge, demonstrate patience, discipline and focus, and improve their attention to detail and sequencing skills.
5. My child has taken Young Rembrandts before, will this class be different?
Our classes maintain a similar structure, but our lessons are always new. We repeat concepts, but we have five years of lessons, so your child will always have a fresh subject to draw.
Letter from Dodd parent in Wylie ISD: "I would just like to send a thank you to Suzanne McCord!! My son is in your class at Dodd. He is really enjoying it and we have seen a lot of improvement. We signed him up for these art classes starting last year, because he struggled creatively and art kind of stressed him out. He didn't see it as fun because there weren't "rules" and instruction sheets! Since joining the program, our son has wanted to draw more at home and can't wait for art class each week."
